Lansing ad director says goodbye

Gannettoid.com | news@gannettoid.com | Posted: Aug. 18, 2009 • Updated Aug. 21

In a move announced Aug. 10, Lansing State Journal advertisting director Pam Jodway is leaving the company after eight years to join a regional economic development company in Lansing.

Lansing publisher Brian Priester first shared the news in a brief memo to employees at the paper, saying Jodway served, "first in the role of marketing director and for the last four years as advertising director."

Jodway sent a note out to numerous people in the company Monday with the subject, "Goodbye and thank you."

In it, Jodway said she is returning to her marketing roots and, "I am both excited and saddened to be making this change, but I believe that we excel best when we embrace our passions and marketing is indeed what generates the 'fire in the belly' for me."

Subject: Goodbye, LSJ Media team

Well folks, parting is such sweet sorrow, and I am genuinely sad today to say “goodbye” to my LSJ friends. I have truly been blessed to have served this company for 8+ years. We’ve had highs and lows, wins and losses, opportunities and threats, good days and challenging days. And at the end of all of it, we still remain standing, and standing strong. It takes a team to achieve greatness, and the LSJ team is one heck of a team. As I told the advertising team when I spoke to them a few weeks ago, remember to always stay true to the mission this company serves — it is a very, very important one! The LSJ IS the valued voice of the community, a role no one else comes close to filling.

I wish each and every one of you the very best, professionally and personally. And, I’m just around the corner at the Stadium District. There’s a wonderful coffee shop on the corner…stop by anytime to say “hi” — the coffee is on me!

Cheers.
Pam

Friends,

I wanted to let you know that my last day with the company is this Friday, August 21. I am leaving to return to my marketing roots as the Vice President of Marketing for Leap, Incorporated (Lansing Economic Area Partnership), a regional economic development company whose mission is to market the assets of the region both locally and abroad with the goal of strategic growth for the community. Who says Michigan doesn’t have a bright future J.

I wanted to express my gratitude to each of you for your friendship, support, ideas and collaborations during my eight plus years with Gannett. I am both excited and saddened to be making this change, but I believe that we excel best when we embrace our passions and marketing is indeed what generates the “fire in the belly” for me.

I wish you all great success, as you continue to carry the torch forward. We do indeed represent a critical mission in our communities and I have great respect for that and for each of you. While I won’t be sitting around the table with you any longer, you can rest assured I will continue to be a strong advocate for carrying that mission forward!

Again, many thanks for the memories and the opportunity to work alongside each of you — I will treasure my time with Gannett for years to come.

Pam
