Gannett plans February meeting in Florida
Gannettoid.com | news@gannettoid.com | Posted: Jan. 13, 2010 • Morning report
Gannett is hosting a Metro Council Meeting next month at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, Fla., according to internal documents obtained by Gannettoid.com.
"The South Group is hosting the conference, and will be handling the logistics of the meeting," Carol Hudler, recently appointed president and publisher of The Tennessean, wrote in the invitation to executives from Gannett's metro papers.
Hudler's note said an agenda for the Feb. 3-4 meeting would be sent when it is finalized. Attendees were asked to submit information for hotel reservations by Tuesday. Metro publishers, advertising directors and other executives are expected to attend.
Gannett has not held such a meeting recently as the economy has been down. Newspapers will be required to pay for airfare, hotel rooms and other travel expenses. The room rate is $165 per night, plus taxes and parking fees.
One point likely on the agenda is the introduction of Maggie Krost, the new director of Gannett's corporate advertising team. The Krost hire was announced in a Tuesday memo, which stated her first day is set for Jan. 25. READ THE MEMO HERE.
Other items expected on the agenda include growing local controllable revenue and the discussion of various programs Gannett is implementing to stimulate business growth.
